At this year's IF design awards ceremony at CEBIT exhibition in Hannover, Polar was awarded in the category "Product design" for the outstanding product design and innovative wireless technology of the Polar AXN500 Outdoor Computer. A total of more than 3000 Candidates from 32 countries competed in six disciplines for the much sought after IF label. The IF design award has been given since 1953, and is one of the best-known and important design prizes in the world, conferred by a jury made up of top international designers.
"Winning the IF design award 2005 confirms Polar's competence in producing world class sports instruments. We have succeeded in developing the first outdoor instrument to combine personalized feedback about the user's body, environment and performance. This makes it all the more gratifying for us, after having earned a world-wide reputation for athletes' favorite sports instruments, to now receive such a highly respected award for the design of a Polar product" says Pasi Vihavainen, The head of the Polar Design Team.
