Kempele, Finland, 23rd Nov 2006
Already awarded for design excellence by iF International Forum Design in China and named as the "Running Accessory of the Year" by Runner's World Magazine, the Polar RS800sd and adidas Fusion footwear and apparel now receives a third prestigious award - 'Best of Gear' from National Geographic Adventure Magazine.
Recognised at a gala event held at National Geographic's headquarters in Washington D.C. on the 14th November, the 'Best of Gear' award is particularly noteworthy as products are submitted for consideration by an advisory board, comprising of 45 leading U.S. outdoor retailers, who use their expert opinion along with feedback from the market place, as to what their customers find particularly interesting and exciting, to weigh in on the products they feel are truly innovative. This ultimately means the nominated products provide a true reflection of consumer opinion.
"Input from the sharpest retailers in the business makes our gear coverage more compelling than ever before. The members of the advisory board are the real experts on the ground they have relationships with their customers and know what the customers want." said National Geographic Adventure Editor in Chief John Rasmus.
Choosing from the advisory board's nominated products; editors from the magazine considered innovation, utility/functionality, value and design, awarding 'Best of Gear' to a total of 45 products in 6 different categories. Winning products will be featured in the magazine's fourth annual year-end "Best of Adventure" gear awards December 2006/January 2007 issue (on newsstands Nov. 28, 2006).
"The RS800sd was developed to be the ultimate training tool for running and endurance, incorporating innovative features that help even the most experienced athletes improve their performance. Combining this system with the latest advancements in technical apparel from adidas, we have delivered a completely non-invasive system that provides the highest level of feedback on training and technique effectiveness." said Jörgen Michelsson, VP of Marketing at Polar Electro. "Winning this award makes me immensely proud for Polar as it is an endorsement of the highest quality."
