USATF Standout Noah Droddy Joins the Polar Team
NEW YORK – March 7, 2017 – Polar, the leader in wearable sports and fitness technology for 40 years, welcomes USA Track & Field standout Noah Droddy to the Polar team. A top tier distance runner, Droddy joins Polar’s growing team of notable running and endurance athletes including Will Leer, Gwen Jorgensen, Molly Huddle, Kate Grace, Mirinda Carfrae and Andy Potts. Droddy will look to Polar’s accurate training metrics and personalized coaching and guidance tools as he continues his aggressive training toward personal records and impressive finish times.
Droddy gained popularity in the running world with his impressive running performance and immediately recognizable long hair. cool-man shades and backwards snapback. Droddy’s name has been splashed across headlines in the running world since his time running for DePauw University, most recently and notably coming in second place at the 2016 USATF 10 Mile Championships. Not only does Droddy have a specific approach to his training, but also he follows a process with his hair: man bun while training, free-flowing while racing.
“We welcome Noah’s old school approach to training, and appreciate the throwback to runners who were pounding the pavement, day in and day out,” says Stan Brajer, Senior Vice President of U.S. Sales and Marketing. “That daily training will always be a key element of success, but once you reach a certain level in your career, metrics like training load and recovery become equally important. Athletes need to know when they’re at peak performance but also know when it’s time to rest, especially to avoid injury. Noah brings a unique, exciting energy to the Polar team and we look forward to merging his training style with our data and guidance to help him fully understand his training and what his body needs.”
Droddy has been running his entire life and got to make a career out of it when he started running for the DePauw Track & Field team, earning a place among top athletes at multiple Division III invitational and classic events. Continuing into the professional world, Droddy pursued lofty goals achieving many personal records at distance races across the U.S. with the help of his coach Richey Hansen and training group Roots Running Project in Boulder, Colo.
Hitting national running headlines and trending online, Droddy was presumed to be a crasher of the U.S. Olympic Trials in Summer 2016 as he stood alongside the more traditional clean cut runners at the 10,000-meter race. His career has grown explosively since making a bold move from Indianapolis to Boulder to join the Roots Running Project. Since then, he’s chipped away at his half marathon time, qualified for the Olympic Trials Marathon, and ran his fastest 10,000 meters, all with improved and impressive times.
“I’ve always run with deep purpose and keen mental acuity,” says Noah Droddy. “This past year or so has been a great year for me. I’ve channeled all my energy to steadily improving my performance and joining Polar has massively built upon that momentum. I’m training my absolute hardest and with Polar M200 and Polar Flow, and it’s allowing me to be more informed on when my body is due for rest so I can avoid injuries that might slow me down.”
Polar’s GPS running watches such as the Polar M400 and Polar M200 offer Polar’s unique Smart Coaching features and adaptive training plans in Polar Flow for web or iOS and Android. Polar’s personalized and adaptive Running Program helps runners train for everything from a 5k to a marathon, with a plan tailored to the user and their specific goals.
