I volunteer with Girls on the Run in Cincinnati and when I became a SoleMate (their fundraising portion) in December 2010 I was given a Polar Heart Rate monitor. It was my first one and I absolutely love it! I had never done heart rate training before but it has really helped me to pay attention to where my heart rate should be for workouts so that I am not going too hard on recovery days and I know when to push myself on hard workout days. It is also great for crosstraining at the gym because it helps to get an accurate value for the amount of calories that you burn. I will be running my 6th marathon on May 1st and have had a great training this season. I have done fundraising for Girls on the Run through my training and people have paid to dress me in crazy outfits (see pictures attached)! The fundraising in combination with my wonderful heart rate training courtesy of Polar has made for my favorite marathon training experience so f! ar and has also helped me to lose 20 pounds since the first of the year. I owe this training to Girls on the Run and Polar!
