For the past 2 years, I have been traveling from Charlotte, NC to Chicago, IL every week, Sunday through Thursday. I was away from my family during that time, so to compensate for missing them, I took up cycling and running again. I had not exercised seriously for almost 10 years. Technology has come a long way in that time. My weight and fitness was also at its worst since that day I was born (boy was I am out of shape baby. I couldn't even hold up my own head ;) ) Well, being able to track my progress during my runs and rides was very motivating. It became a game to see what kinds of number I could hit and/or hold. As time went on, I entered my first races ever, 5k and 10k. I wasn't breaking any records, but I felt great that I was "racing." To me this was amazing. Well, this past weekend, I completed my first half-marathon. Even when I played soccer in high school, I could not string together 13 miles in one run. If I had not had the te! chnology to track myself during the run and see that I was doing OK, I don't think I could have kept going. So, here I am, better than ever and still improving.
