What does an ECG measure?
With every heartbeat, an electrical impulse travels through the heart, prompting its contraction and facilitating blood circulation.
An ECG records these electrical signals and provides a graphical representation to show how fast the heart is beating, the rhythm of the heart beats (steady or irregular), and the strength and timing of the electrical impulses as they move through the different parts of the heart. More specifically, the different waves of the ECG signal represent the sequence of depolarization and repolarization of the heart muscle’s atriums and ventricles.
