Polar strives to ensure the accessibility of its website by the Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019 and the requirements of the legislative amendments implementing the Accessibility Directive.
This accessibility statement applies to the polar.com website and online store.
Accessibility Status
The polar.com online store partially meets the WCAG (versions 2.1 and 2.2) success criteria at level AA. The identified shortcomings are described below.
The development of the polar.com website and online store is an ongoing process. Polar aims to address all detected issues to ensure an accessible and enjoyable user experience.
Non-Accessible Content and Identified Accessibility Issues
Content and functionalities with detected accessibility issues are regularly updated. The following content or functionalities are not yet fully compliant with requirements:
Perceivability Issues
- Text may be placed over images, making it difficult to perceive the text.
- Individual texts and/or links may not have sufficient contrast ratios against the background.
- Enlarging the font size in browser settings (200%) may sometimes alter the layout or overlap text, making it harder to read.
- Some form elements need to be renamed for assistive technologies (missing ARIA attributes).
- Not all images have alternative text reflecting their meaning, or the images have not been marked as decorative.
- The hierarchical structure of headings on the pages is not always logical.
- External payment page/form (provided by 3rd party) has issues in form field descriptions (double descriptions)
Operability Issues
The site needs to improve in supporting assistive technologies that rely on keyboard interfaces. Not all functionalities are accessible via the keyboard alone, and there may be inconsistencies between keyboard usage and visual content presentation. The following issues were observed:
- A skip link to bypass repetitive content is missing.
- The visual navigation order does not always match the keyboard interface navigation order (tab order).
- Opening or closing particular views (product or feature modals) using keyboard commands may be challenging.
- The naming of links and indication of link destinations for assistive technologies is partially incomplete.
- The link text does not always clearly describe the link’s target.
- Using the main navigation menu with the keyboard interface can be challenging.
