We are looking for a Localization Specialist

UX writing and Localization team is looking for a LocalizationSpecialist for a fixed term from August 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025.  We are looking for a person with strong linguistic skills and experience in technical aspects around translation, localization, and internationalization. You are comfortable working with technical and non-technical people alike, and you are willing to learn new tools, processes, and concepts. Your main role will be in handling translation projects, but writing skills are also desired as the role may include some editing work as well.

You will work closely with UX writers, software developers, copywriters, external stakeholders, and localization vendors.

Duties

• You will manage translation projects from beginning to end
• You will manage and develop translation project workflows, maintain translation schedules and the needed resources, and make sure the translation quality is met across platforms
• You will identify, report, and solve localization issues

Requirements

• Master's / Bachelor's Degree in linguistics, or equivalent experience
• Knowledge and understanding of internationalization and localization
• Experience directly related to project management, preferably in the localization industry
• Fluent/Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities

Tools

• Previous experience with translation tools (memoQ or similar) required
• Previous experience with Jira, GIT, and Confluence a big plus

We're looking for a Senior Mobile Developer

Working at Polar you will be collaborating with a group of highly skilled engineers, architects and product owners to provide state-of-the-art SW solutions into our new consumer products.

She/He works as member of a Mobile SW development team with focus on definition, SW implementation, delivery and team’s quality assurance related tasks. Work will require cross-team collaboration and stakeholder interaction.

Main Tasks

• Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Work with outside data sources and APIs
• Produce well tested robust code which is easy to read and maintain
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Requirements:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject and/or  corresponding skills gained by working experience
• 5+ years of experience of working in a Android software engineering role 
• Working experience in Android app development (Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, understanding of declarative UI), have published at least one original Android app. 
• Experience working with remote data via REST, JSON and protocol buffers and experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle as well as SAFe processes.  
• Great collaboration skills:  "share what you learn, help others, learn from your peers, and ask for help when you need it"
• Self-starter and pro-active
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Finnish

Desired skills:

• iOS and cross platform skills are considered an advantage
• BLE knowledge
