Features

  • Body measurement features
    • Orthostatic Test

      Orthostatic Test

Orthostatic Test is an easy and reliable test to determine your current condition. It shows how your heart rate responds to training and factors such as stress and illness. By repeating the test regularly, you’ll learn what to expect with your heart rate and what can affect it. You can then adjust your training to allow your body to recover when it needs it.

    • User-definable heart rate zone limits

      User-definable heart rate zone limits

There are three ways you can set zone limits: as default heart zones that are automatically calculated based on your max HR; as free heart rate zones for which you can set the limits yourself; or as heart rate zones based on thresholds which you can define yourself.

    • HRmax (user set)
    • HRmax (age-based)

      HRmax (age-based)

The highest number of heart beats per minute (bpm) during maximum physical exertion. For a rough estimate of your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220. HRmax is a useful tool for determining the intensity of training as intensity zones can be defined using HRmax. Some Polar products define maximum heart rate during the Polar Fitness Test, see also HRmax (Polar Fitness Test -based).

    • Polar Fitness Test

      Polar Fitness Test

Polar Fitness Test measures your aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes. The result, Polar OwnIndex, evaluates your maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max). With the Polar Fitness Test you can measure your aerobic fitness by yourself, automatically and without any exertion. All you need is your training computer. The Polar Fitness Test is as accurate in predicting the VO2max as any sub maximal fitness test. The test is based on heart rate and heart rate variability at rest and personal information.

    • Polar OwnCal ® - Smart calories

Polar OwnCal ® - Smart calories

The most accurate calorie counter on the market calculates the number of calories burned. Calculation is based on your individual data: your weight, height, age, gender and the intensity of physical activity. Smart Calories are available in heart rate monitors and activity trackers.

    • HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm

HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm

You can define your target zones for a training session based on heart rate to help define the right intensity. When you are out of the preset zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alarm.

    • Automatic age-based target zone – bpm / %

      Automatic age-based target zone – bpm / %

To help you train safely and effectively, the training computer determines your heart rate target zone limits automatically according to your age-based maximum heart rate (220 minus age). The limits are determined either in beats per minute (bpm), as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate, or as a heart rate reserve (% HRR). See also Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and Manual target zone.

    • Average, minimum and maximum heart rate of training
    • Heart rate – bpm / %

      Heart rate – bpm / %

Heart rate is the measurement of the work your heart does. Heart rate can be expressed as the number of beats per minute (bpm) or as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate.

    • Heart rate zones

      Heart rate zones

Heart rate zones provide an easy way to select and monitor the intensity of your training and to follow heart rate based training programs. The default heart rate zones are divided into five zones based on the percentage of your maximum heart rate: very light (50-60 % HRmax), light (60-70 % HRmax), moderate (70-80 % HRmax), hard (80-90 % HRmax) and maximum (90-100 % HRmax). You can also define the zones as you want.

V800 is rated 3.7222 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic watch with excellent features! I love almost everything about this watch. Read on, friends . . . What I love: GPS is quick (and accurate)! Transitions between multiple sports is easy. Pairing with other sensors is a breeze. I love that it tracks daily activities (steps, sleep)--very cool! It's a data-geek's dream. Seriously, this watch gives you so much data that you can slice and dice. I have small wrists (read: chicken wrists), and I wear it 24'7". The weight and extra length on the strap took about a day to get used to, but now I don't even notice it. What I DON'T love: I can't view my daily activity unless I sync my watch and look online. This seems kind of silly, since the watch tracks the feature--why can't I view it immediately? I want to know how many steps I'm taking throughout the day without having to bother with a website. No Android support. Yes, I know this is in the works, but I wanted the feature yesterday--not months from now. The "tap" feature doesn't work. Either my watch is faulty, or it takes a REALLY hard tap. Luckily I wouldn't use it anyway, so that doesn't bother me much. Overall, a fantastic watch. I highly recommend it to both casual and professional athletes. Well played, Polar.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Features, Bad Execution This watch was great for a while. It finds a GPS fast, has great features, and can be programed to do almost anything. However, after almost a year the watch feels like a piece of garbage. Whatever plastic Polar used on it is giving me a rash on my wrist. (None of my previous Polar watches have done this.) It also will not stay connected to the charging/USB device unless I hold the clamp super tight. Dead skin and dried sweat collect in all the uncovered crevices of the watch, like the charging port and the screws in the back of the face. For $500 I expected way better. I am very disappointed in polar and am considering switching to Garmin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool! I waited for this product and it did not disappoint. Build is solid and it looks good enough to wear 24-7 - and I do. I train 6-12 hours weekly and I purchased V800 mid-June. There are too many features to list but they all worked for me. GPS, HRM, Polar Flow connectivity and others all add up to a serious training computer for monitoring and managing progress. Even though the social aspects of the Flow site are a bit weak, it still allows our fitness "tribe" to follow one another well enough. The fitness tracking is so strong that it more than makes up for this minor shortcoming of the system. Pairing and connectivity are easy. So far, durability is good (50% of my training is strength training so it gets banged around more than a little). Before the V800 I used a Garmin FR620. The Garmin is and excellent product but less flexible. The FR620 is more suited to runners while the V800 is more versatile - or the versatility is more easily utilized. V800 customizable fitness profiles make switching metrics between back-to-back sessions easy. Well, as I said, too much to list, so I'll stop there - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PRODUCT. I use mine daily.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Want to love, but... Tried everything, pairing the watch to the H7, Stride Sensor, and my iPhone 5c simply does not work. Even ordered new sensors, replaced batteries, rebooted the sensors, made sure firmware on the V800 was up to date, and still won't work. The Bluetooth sensors work great with the Polar Beat, and Flow apps on my iPhone, but will not pair to my V800. I've been using the Polar H7 and Bluetooth stride sensor since February with the Beat app, and it works great, so it's not like I done have experience using these sensors. Anyway, really want to live this watch, but may have to,look elsewhere if I cannot get this issue resolved.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay but needs better sensor design for swimming I bought this a month ago, and it has some interesting features such as Swolf and strokes per lap. The quality is great and the watch itself looks good. The biggest issue I have is since I mainly use it for pool swimming the sensor drags and twists into itself, it doesn't matter how tight I have it. Unfortunately my old RCX500 had a proper swimming strap that work well in water. If you wear a wet suit then the problem wouldn't be an issue. Hopefully Polar are designing something for us to use in the pool. The other thing I noticed is that for some reason when doing butterfly it misses laps, where as all other strokes are counted accurately, not to sure if I can adjust anything to make it work. So at this stage I am okay with the product, I just hope polar make it usable for us swimmers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Training Tool As a competitive marathoner and fitness enthusiast the v800 is by far my favorite watch. The crisp display, customization training displays, tap features, extremely accurate GPS, and smart coaching features make training fun. With the sleek design you can wear the V800 all day as a fitness monitor and have it ready for serious workouts. This watch has so much to offer and I know Polar will continue to provide updates for the watch and Polar flow Website .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So-so for $500 Sync now works on GS5S. Pretty buggy for $500. Activity tracking is rudimentary. Hope Polar makes this product better thru udates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must consider the V800 I have had many watches over the years that monitor my activities. My foray with Polar began with a CX300 of which lacked many things which I won't bore you with. I then moved to a Timex Global Trainer GPS Triathlon of which I have now used for almost 4 years. I was at an inflection point however since the USB charging cable was backordered and my GPS has been taking longer to find satellites. After much research and consideration I decided to go with the Polar V800. My decision criteria was as follows (No particular order): 1. Multi Sport Support (My sports of choice Mountain Biking, Road Biking, Running, Rowing, Cross training/Circuit training, weight lifting, walking and hiking.) 2. Customization 3. GPS with quick ability to find satellites but as well shutdown when not in use 4. Reliable Heart Rate Monitor - there are mixed results without a chest strap so I was cautious about models without. 5. Indoor and Outdoor support 6. Ability to have many workout types again with the ability to customize. 7. Reporting and ability to export to TrainingPeaks, AppleHealth and MyFitnessPal 8. Activity Monitoring 9. Ability to charge quickly and last a reasonable amount of time. 10. Reasonable form factor since most GPS watches are sooooooo big. After two weeks of use my observations are as follows: Follow the instructions while setting up but go a step further to read the manual. Most if not all negative reviews I have seen might not have been if this occurred. I can honestly say that all of my asks were met excluding the following which fall under number 7 above. Reporting is not all that great from the polar flow site but that wasn't a desire of mine. I would integrate the ability to share workouts outside of polar flow in the future though - or make it easier as some like to post their workouts to social media. This may be there but I have not found it. Integration with Apple Health is limited. I personally would like to see sleep/rest, active calories burned, distance and exercises populate. The only that syncs for me is steps from the activity monitor and heart rate. I found that to get integration with Training Peaks is simply a matter of exporting the workouts one by one which is a pain. It would be nice to be able to export date ranges. MyFitnessPal seems to work but I think its because of my having MapMyFitness installed. It also seems to only post one workout in MyFitnessPal per day. Again the data does not post to Apple Health. Net net if you are a data junky you will be forced to look at various platforms unfortunately and thats not just with Polar. Therefore, the ability to import and export data is paramount which is lacking in bulk. Over all though this is the best watch/activity monitor I have had to date. It provides quite bit of flexibility and accuracy in a reasonable size. The fact updated firmware is so easy to attain you won't have to be a rocket scientist to get the latest features and functions too. The various performance tests also help you track your growth as an athlete which is nice.Too early to say what battery life will look like long term but thus far I am very impressed with it and the watch overall. Asks to Polar: 1. Please continue to evolve polar flow the foundation is definitely there. I am hopeful you eventually with add the ability to track food etc but as well get some of the advanced reporting that one receives as part of using Training Peaks. 2. Expand your Apple Health support or publish a document on how best to integrate with it. 3. Social media share... I ask only because others do it and my friends and I challenge each-other and not everyone has a Polar. 4. Beta tester - If ever you want a beta tester please let me know.
