Tasks and responsibilities: 

In your daily work, you will be pivotal in developing embedded software for our trusted heart rate sensors and the next generation of sensors. Your responsibilities include ensuring seamless communication with other devices via wired and wireless protocols, efficiently acquiring and processing signals to maintain high performance and accuracy, and collaborating with colleagues from various countries, including remote team members at our HQ in Finland.

Skills:

• Understanding of embedded controllers & electronics and bare-metal programming
• Experience with Zephyr 
• Knowledge of BLE and RTOS principles is an advantage
• Knowledge of some of these serial ports, I2C, SPI, USB is a plus
• Experience of NFC is a plus
• Protocols and their implementation
• C/C++ is a must. Python is beneficial
• Understanding Scrum and Agile development is an advantage

Required qualifications:

• Engineering degree in embedded systems; B.Sc. or above
• Preferably some (2-5) years of experience in a similar position
• Junior profiles are welcome
• Proactivity and eagerness to learn
• Team player that can also work independently
• Fluent in French and English
• Swiss European nationality or B, C, G work permit

We're looking for a Senior Mobile Developer

Working at Polar you will be collaborating with a group of highly skilled engineers, architects and product owners to provide state-of-the-art SW solutions into our new consumer products.

Senior Developer, Mobile works as member of a Mobile SW development team with focus on definition, SW implementation, delivery and team’s quality assurance related tasks. Work will require cross-team collaboration and stakeholder interaction.

Main Tasks

• Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Work with outside data sources and APIs
• Produce well tested robust code which is easy to read and maintain
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Requirements:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject and/or  corresponding skills gained by working experience
• 5+ years of experience of working in a Android software engineering role 
• Working experience in Android app development (Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, understanding of declarative UI), have published at least one original Android app. 
• Experience working with remote data via REST, JSON and protocol buffers and experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle as well as SAFe processes.  
• Great collaboration skills:  "share what you learn, help others, learn from your peers, and ask for help when you need it"
• Self-starter and pro-active
• Excellent command of written and spoken English

• iOS and cross platform skills are considered an advantage
• BLE knowledge
• Excellent communication skills
• Quality and detail-oriented
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure
• Knowledge and interest in continuing to learn and identify new technologies and new tools

Preferred location is in Polar Headquarters at Kempele, other Polar locations in Finland are negotiable (Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Tampere).
