Business Controller+

Main responsibilities: 

We are now looking for service-oriented talent to join our team to work as a Business Controller in our Finance team in Kempele, Finland.  

The Business Controller ensures reliable financial reporting, monitors business performance, and supports budgeting and forecasting processes. By analyzing financial data and collaborating with stakeholders, the role contributes to cost control and improved business outcomes.

  • Support the month-end Group FP&A process by reviewing reported data (e.g., validating the main drivers in the Variance Analysis) 
  • Participate in the preparation of the monthly management reporting, including analyses and comments

  • Superuser and support in any changes or amendments in Tagetik and Cognos  

  • Partner with department managers to oversee their costs, supporting them in the monthly cost control, budgeting, and forecasting process

  • Communicate financial results and analysis to senior management and other stakeholders

  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses for the Polar Management Team

  • Provide technical support for the subsidiaries on reporting and planning tools' issues

To be successful in this position you need to have 3-5 years working experience from similar tasks, preferably in a global business environment and a relevant degree (e.g. BS/MS in Economics or in Industrial Business and Management). You have excellent Excel skills and previous experience in various reporting tools; we value knowledge in SAP, Cognos and Tagetik. Additional system skills are considered as an advantage. Fluency in written and spoken Finnish and English is a must in our global environment. 

We value a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and a self-driven, precise working style. You will actively collaborate with internal stakeholders, so you need to possess strong communication skills and a service-minded attitude.  

The role will be tailored based on the selected candidate’s profile.

While we are working in a hybrid model, regular presence weekly basis in the Kempele headquarters is essential for this role.

Algorithm Researcher+

We are looking for an Algorithm Researcher to join our world-class Sensors & Algorithms team for a permanent position

Polar Research Center is part of Polar R&D and it acts as an innovation accelerator for Polar product and service developments.  Research Center comprises a multidisciplinary team with expertise ranging from sensor technology and algorithms to physiology, data, and AI sciences, as well as exercise and health sciences. The team conducts cutting-edge research in wearable technologies, follows scientific developments, and collaborates globally with academic and industry partners. Polar Research Center is located at our headquarters in Kempele.

As a Algorithm Researcher in the Sensors & Algorithms team, you will contribute to the development of advanced sensor solutions for Polar products. You will collaborate with experts across disciplines and play a key role in advancing our technical capabilities.

Main responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing biosignal (e.g. optical heart rate, ECG, bioimpedance) processing algorithms 
  • Contribution to development and prototyping of research platforms
  • Contribution to technical innovation via internal and collaborative research projects with a focus on wearable sensor technology
  • Acting as a technical expert and supporting internal stakeholders in development, testing, and productization of sensor solutions

Requirements:

  • Solid experience in signal processing methods and algorithm implementation for real-time systems, as well as experience in Matlab or Python programming
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding C/C++ code syntax
  • Understanding of embedded software design, including power-optimized operating systems, sensor technologies, and electronic measurement equipment
  • Understanding of biosignals and the physiological phenomena behind them
  • Technical background, at least Master’s level degree in Biomedical Engineering, (Bio)physics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong collaboration skills and adaptability to team environments, with fluent communication in English
