Silvia Puigarnau is an ultrarunner, Catalonia native, Doctor of Physical Activity and Sports, avid pianist, and Polar Ambassador. When we hit her up for this installment of Recommendation Corner, she had just won a trail race in the mountains of northern Spain, ascending over 3,700 meters in less than 37.5 kilometers. We asked Silvia to imagine spending the next few months in an isolated cabin in the Pyrenees. What would she take to entertain herself when she's not running up and down the rugged trails? We had her choose her favorite movies, books, shows, and records.
Your favorite TV shows are…
Friends, Lupin, Suits. Oh, even though I don’t like fantasy stories, I binge-watched Game of Thrones right after writing my PhD thesis.
And your favorite movie?
Moulin Rouge. I also like the Ocean’s film series.

What about music? What songs can you listen to on repeat?
Anything and everything, from Spanish songwriter Rosana’s Con a Fuego Lento to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive to Chopin’s Raindrop.
I like local music, like several rock bands from Catalonia. And when running, I get pumped up with dance and electronic music from Pont Aeri.
Rather than a particular song or style, the important thing is that music helps me express how I feel or lifts my spirits in my daily life. Maybe I'm feeling down one day and a song like Todos los DÃas Sale el Sol by Bongo Botrako can change my mood.
Finally, can you recommend our readers a couple of books.
At the moment, I’m reading the crime and police novels by Jordi Sierra y Fabra, a popular Catalan author. These are the type of novels I enjoy much, stories with gripping plot that keep you on the edge from start to finish. Less intense books might take me months to finish reading, but they’re good for helping me relax before sleep.
