Elixir™ sensor fusion technology measures more physiological and mechanical data from the human body than anything before it – analyzing a spectrum of biological markers at phenomenal speeds to provide the best, clearest insights, and personalized guidance in sports and in life.

Optical Heart Rate

Since we introduced the world’s first wireless heart rate monitor, we haven’t stopped perfecting the way we measure heart rate.

Powered by Elixir biosensing technology, the next generation of our wrist-based optical heart rate monitor offers the most accurate optical heart rate measurements in a Polar watch ever. The new sensor has been redesigned to further reduce interference caused by movement and light leakage, and improve power efficiency to provide accurate readings round the clock.

Blood Oxygen Level

Powered by Elixir™ biosensing technologies, Polar SpO2 uses pulse oximetry technology to estimate the amount of oxygen you have circulating in your blood. It emits two different wavelengths of light, red and infrared, through the skin and into the underlying blood vessels. Inside the blood vessels, the light interacts with the oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin in the red blood cells. The amounts of reflected and backscattered light are used to calculate how much oxygen your blood is carrying.

All blood oxygen measurements are saved to Polar Flow along with altitude information. Use this information to track and analyze your body’s response to exercise over a period of time.

Skin Temperature

Polar Nightly Skin Temperature allows you to automatically track your temperature throughout the night and provides daily updates compared to your average from the previous 28 days, which you can interpret for health insights.

While you sleep, a small sensor on the back of the watch measures and records your skin temperature every five minutes. In the morning, you can review the results from the previous night as well as weekly and monthly trends on Polar Flow.

Wrist-ECG

You can read the electric signals of your heart using the wrist ECG sensor on a Polar Watch equipped with Wrist-ECG and Elixir™ bionsensing technologies. The test records the ECG signal at rest and valuable metrics such as average heart rate, heart rate variability, and the intervals between successive heartbeats (also called RR intervals).

With the Polar Flow app, you can view your history of ECG results and monitor trends, see how your heart responds to exercise, and analyze your physical condition and recovery. You can also export the ECG test results to a PDF file that you can share with your coach.

Important:Wrist ECG, skin temperature, and blood oxygen measurements and data are not intended for medical purposes, diagnosis or treatment. Please contact your healthcare service provider or doctor, if you have any concerns about your health.
