My challenge has always been my 5’ frame & no place for any weight gain to hide. I’ve experienced the weight roller coaster ride, seeing highs & lows & trying most diets out there. I tired of yoyo weight loss & wanted a life change to maintain my ideal weight. I joined gym near work last year, worked hard & felt good, but the scales weren’t moving. I resigned myself to the fact that with age I’d just have to work harder, longer & sacrifice indulgences food wise. I was approached in March about having a consultation with a personal trainer. That’s when things changed for me. When asked my personal goals, I summed them up to losing weight, raising metabolism, toning up & training to run with my daughter at her graduation from boot camp in July. My trainer used his Polar Heart Monitor as part of training to monitor my heart beat and I was impressed from the beginning so I ordered one for myself (FT40). Three months into this journey, I’ve learned so much. My old schedule had me working out too often & not allowing my body to properly recover & I wasn’t eating enough @ breakfast to fuel my body, leaving myself drained by Friday. I started keeping a food dairy, still indulged in moderation on weekends, but concentrated on average calories/wk overall. My trainer pushed me harder than I had ever given myself credit for with free weights, squats, lunges, push ups, bridges & cardio. I’ll never look at stairs the same way! When I first started training, I jokingly asked him “Do you remember how old I am?” Now it’s how young I feel. I’ve lost 9 ¼ lbs, down one size, RUNNING & doing things I never thought I could. I am 61 and start using my FT 40 for about 2 months previously I used a Timex "Iron Man" watch which I found to be inaccurate. I'm very satisfied with the ease of use of the FT 40 and with the computer link to track my progress. I have been training seriously now for 4 years and over that time period I lost over 40 ponds.
