Polar Electro today announces it's compatibility with Microsoft HealthVault, where Polar heart rate training systems will be able to transfer valuable heart rate and physical training information to HealthVault, Microsoft Corp.'s newly launched consumer health platform.
Polar, market leader and pioneer of heart rate training systems, combines expertise in electronics, computer sciences and physiology. Through a strategic relationship between Polar and Microsoft, information captured during exercise sessions on a Polar heart rate monitor will be able to be passed, via infrared, to the HealthVault platform.
Microsoft's HealthVault platform provides consumers with the ability to search, store, connect and share their health information by allowing a suite of wellbeing related applications to be connected. Heart rate data gathered by Polar systems will be able to be shared across the entire HealthVault system so that it can be combined with wider health information, where it can then help to improve the management of their health and wellness.
"Providing the users with valuable physiological information in a way that is useful to them has always been at the centre of Polar's market-leading training systems." Says Sari Saynajakangas, CEO and President, Polar Electro Group. "Our vision is to empower our customers to achieve their goals. By working with Microsoft to allow heart rate information to be shared within HealthVault we are enabling the data to be used even further, and are giving Polar customers enhanced functionality and value."
The compatibility of Polar within HealthVault also allows health and fitness application developers to consider utilising heart rate information within future applications. A wider range of applications will give Polar customers the chance to get even more out of their Polar products.
"We are delighted to have worked with Polar to build compatibility within HealthVault and allow the system to capture their training information," comments Peter Neupert, corporate vice president for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft. "The inclusion of data from Polar devices allows consumers to collect, analyze and share their exercise data in combination with other health- and wellness-related data."
All Polar infrared enabled products will be compatible with Microsoft HealthVault including, but not limited too; Polar F55, Polar RS400, Polar RS800, Polar CS600, Polar CS400, Polar S725X, Polar S625X Polar AXN500 and Polar AXN700,
