Deborah Schultz
One day my sister said to me "Debbie, we are 50 years old, and it is possible that we could live to be 100. That means that we could literally live our lives all over again!" I thought to myself "NO WAY, I am miserable as it is, I don’t want another 50 years of this!" I was in bad shape: 60 pounds overweight, smoking cigarettes, couldn't walk to the mailbox without breathing heavily, and only getting out of the house long enough to go to the grocery store.I made up my mind to make a change to see if the next 50 years could be better than the first. I knew that I would have to lose weight and get into shape. I asked myself what physical activity would motivate me to get off my butt and the answer was Cycling! I had done some in the past and enjoyed it but it had given way to those bad habits and faded into longing memories. So, I joined a Gym and purchased a Polar RS300X Heart Rate Computer. When I started with the Spinning Classes, I was so out-of-shape that it was a struggle get through the first class. I wore my Polar Heart Rate Computer to keep track of my heart rate and measure my progress and after a few classes, I could tell that I was slowly improving. That was the motivation that carried my through the difficult times that we all go through wanting to give up because we don't "feel" like we're getting better. Seeing the numbers and results on the Heart Rate Computer shows me the logic and reality of my progress! Now, 8 months later, I have accomplished my goals! I have reached my ideal weight and am in good enough shape to ride with the Bicycle Club and am now participating in organized rides. My most recent accomplishment was riding 100 miles for the Cool Breeze Century in Ventura. WOW, thanks to Polar, that is symbolic of my new desire to WANT to live to be 100 years old! Thank you Polar for benign helpful in changing my outlook on life!
