›Polar Introduces a New, Updated Polar Loop
Polar's smart activity tracker comes in new colors and extended compatibility
Kempele, Finland – 19 May, 2014 – Polar, the leading manufacturer of heart rate monitors and training devices, releases a refreshed version of the Polar Loop activity tracker with a number of significant updates and new features.
When Polar Loop made its debut in October 2013, it quickly became one of the most sought-after new products on the health and wellbeing market. Smart and simple to use, it gained popularity among consumers for allowing them to measure almost every aspect of their activity during the day: from the very first choices in the morning to monitoring the quality of sleep at night, and counting the total number of steps and burned calories in between. Giving motivational guidance on how to reach the daily activity goal has also been among the most highly-rated features. What is more, Polar Loop trumps its competitors as it shows the user’s heart rate when paired with Polar H6 or H7 Bluetooth Smart heart rate sensor – still something of a rarity among similar devices. Polar Loop is also waterproof and measures activity when swimming. Polar Loop also shows the time.
After the successful first launch in black, the selection has now been expanded with two new colors: Misty Blue is bright, breezy and full of youthful freshness, while Blackcurrant evokes a subdued sense of energy, which really comes to life when the LED display lights up. Smokey Black continues to be the linchpin of the color offering as a stylish and classic choice. In the future there will be additional attractive design versions to complete the collection.
In addition to iOS, the Android version of the Polar Flow app is now available. It works with selected devices using Android 4.3 or later, which currently include Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and S5, and LG Nexus 4 and 5, as well as selected Sony and Motorola models. We will continue to test the Polar Flow app and announce more compatible devices in the future. The free app can be downloaded from Google Play.
Besides Android compatibility, there are many improved features, which anyone who already has this product can get when updating it online. For instance, the Polar Flow mobile app and web service now provide an even deeper insight into sleeping habits. As before, Polar Loop starts tracking sleep time automatically when the user lies down and their body movements slow, but now they also get to follow the amount of restful versus restless sleep. Through this reading, the user can quickly see if their sleep is affected by any changes in daily life. Another much-awaited refinement is that the updated Polar Flow tallies the distance based on activity. It shows how many kilometers or miles have been covered by walking or running during the day.
On top of giving tips on how to stay active throughout the day, Polar Loop gives an alert when it is time to get up and move. So far, the user has received a reminder on their phone to break the sitting time when they have been inactive for too long. Now this alert will appear on the wristband itself as an animated LED reminder. All in all, this is one of the most important functionalities of the activity tracker: it encourages the user to take even short breaks, which are really important for their overall health and wellbeing.
The new colors of Polar Loop are expected to be available in May 2014 at the suggested retail price of €99,90. They will be available only at the official Polar webstore. There is also a matching blue Polar H7 heart rate sensor for Misty Blue for those who want to get more detailed guidance when training.
